Video Post: Genealogy Meme from Geniaus

Stealing the idea of doing this via videa from Catie (Genealogically Speaking & Young & Savvy), I, too, have made a video of my answers to Jill's (Geniaus) genealogy meme.

I ended up talking a bit more about my family than intended, so pardon the length. Whoever can get the furthest into this video before exiting out gets a cookie!

Knowing our family history is not only about collecting neat trivia facts or knowing our ethnic origins. Understanding our roots allows us to better understand ourselves; this isn't sentiment, it's science (so sayeth geneticists, behavioral epigeneticists, neurologists, psychologists, social psychologists, etc!)

And yet, how many of us can say we truly understand our ancestors? In what detail do you know about the health, minds, and lives of those who have shared your genetics, relatives, and heritage? What all did they survive and what did they accomplish which became the stories, the genes, the personalities, the interests, the fears and the circumstances which all culminated in the creation of YOU?

Hello! I'm Ameya Warde, a genealogist, personal historian, mom, and all around nerd-geek of the highest order. I started working on my genealogy when I was 8 years old, and I began collecting family stories for even longer. It's my life-long passion and I now get to enjoy helping others learn more about their own families. I have a BSc in City & Regional Planning from Ohio State University, and I now work in Heirship Research in the O&G industry. I'm also studying for my certification with the Board for Certification of Genealogists.
